Workforce Development
Workforce Development includes the activities, programs, and policies
relating to learning for work. Within an organization,
workforce development that is aligned with the organization’s
objectives or strategy helps the organization to turn vision into
action and action into results.
In today’s rapidly changing, global economy, it is more
important to evaluate how people will be able to handle the jobs
of tomorrow than how they have performed in the past. Results are
lagging indicators. Organizations need to put in place the right
people with the right skill set at all levels in the organization.
KT helps organizations proactively address workforce development.
The process begins by using the organization’s strategy to
define the processes used by, and outputs needed from departments,
work units and/or individuals. Each of the outputs can be used
to build job or team requirements that require specific skills,
knowledge, and personal values or beliefs. By documenting current
capabilities against those identified, gaps in the quality, quantity,
or location of available capabilities are evident. A human capability
plan can be created that describes how the gaps can be closed with
skill development, career development, mentoring, retention, as
well as acquiring new talent. Regular monitoring and updates keep
this plan relevant and reflect current workforce needs.
