When people make mistakes it is rarely because they intend to or because of a simple omission. Rather people generally strive to meet expectations and when they fail it is because of a combination of causes.
The Kepner-Tregoe ROE Performance System model provides the framework for understanding performance and a set of skills that helps leaders deliberately analyze, improve, and align drivers that influence performance. This model takes the mystery out of understanding why your people are not doing what you expect them to do and helps leaders understand that they can “engineer” the human performance system to remove the causes of poor performance.
This workshop will take participants through the topics:
- Understanding the performance system
- Communicating with positive impact
- Coaching effectively
Reducing Operator Error will teach course participants a systematic approach to performance management. They will learn how to apply the performance system model to:
- diagnose performance issues
- develop solutions
- collaboratively implement solutions
The model consists of the following components:
Situation - the immediate setting in which the Performer works. Participants learn how to assess the Situation so that barriers to performance can be removed.
Performer is the person or group expected to perform. Participants learn why it’s important to ensure that employees possess—or can acquire—the skills and experience necessary to complete their work.
Response is the behavior of the Performer. Participants are taught to describe issues in terms of specific behaviors rather than with labels, and how to use this when resolving performance problems.
Consequences are events that follow the response and encourage or discourage that behavior. Course participants learn how to motivate people by providing meaningful consequences.
Feedback is performance-based information used to guide the Performer. Participants learn how to give specific, appropriate, and timely feedback to improve or maintain performance.
Who Should Attend?
