What you will learn: Implementing Lean has nine modules that address the major Lean concepts and provide tools for applying them.
5S: The 5s philosophy focuses on organizing your work area. Use sort to eliminate unnecessary items, set for effective storage, shine to clean, standardize for best practices, and sustain to embed 5S in day-to-day operations.
Identify & Eliminate Waste: Learn about the seven wastes and follow a process to understand each waste, identify where it resides, brainstorm ways to eliminate it, plan for removal, and set up actions to ensure that it does not recur.
Process Mapping: Understand your processes and highlight the variables that impact customer service most. Walk each process with business experts; document all inputs—and their controllability—and every step and output.

Pull Systems: Use client demand rather than forecasting for planning. Follow a step-by-step process to identify opportunities to enhance performance with pull systems, calculate the size of a system and its metrics, and understand pull system deployment and implementation strategies.

Rapid Improvement Process: For fast, action-oriented projects, the Kaizen Blitz provides a framework for implementing collaborative change. Learn a step-by-step Kaizen process that accelerates improvement projects with a structured approach to meeting targeted objectives.

Spaghetti Diagrams: Transportation waste is the non value-adding movement of products and services that inflate cycle times.  Learn to identify the steps with the most movement, determine their value and cause, and plan sustainable improvements.

Standardization: There is rarely more than “one best way” for every process or action. Use a step-by-step approach to map an action or process, document variation, decide on the best way, and implement and monitor change.

Value Stream Mapping: Unnecessary tasks (waste) can be eliminated by streamlining processes. Use this tool to identify and understand the flow of material and information as a product or service makes its way through your organization.

Visual Management: Relevant performance indicators need help managers make good and timely decisions. Use a process to identify key metrics for your department, set and communicate realistic targets, provide feedback and coaching, and implement systems that keep metrics current and relevant.
