Working with KT
Train-the-Trainer
Leader Development Institute for Program Leader Certification
KT can develop your employees as leaders capable of implementing
the KT methods. Program Leaders can lead workshops and facilitate
troubleshooting, decision making, planning, and implementation.
These leaders can play a critical role in developing and implementing
programs that align the organization for success.
Our pioneering "Train-the-Trainer" program has proven
to be one of the most effective methods for embedding Kepner-Tregoe
rational process skills into an organization. The Leader Development
Institute is an intensive skill development experience that provides
in-depth concept knowledge, instructor training, and facilitation
skills. Commonly referred to as an "LDI," this experience
prepares select employees to become KT Program Leaders, certified
to teach in-house KT workshops.
KT intentionally uses the term Program Leader rather than instructor
or trainer because the responsibilities include activities outside
of the typical workshop environment. Program Leaders also serve
as rational process consultants, coaches, and facilitators.
In some countries, LDI workshops are available as 10-day public
sessions for Problem Solving & Decision Making, Analytic Trouble
Shooting®, and Project Management.
LDI program attendees learn to: conduct rational process training
workshops in-house; serve as an effective Program Leader and process
consultant; and apply rational process concepts to organizational
issues. Participants in the Problem Solving & Decision Making
and Analytic Trouble Shooting receive an introduction to eThink® software
and one copy of eThink desktop (English language only).
WHO SHOULD BECOME A PROGRAM LEADER?
Program Leaders
must be selected in consultation with their organization
and Kepner-Tregoe. As a prerequisite, participants must complete
a Kepner-Tregoe workshop in their chosen program. Functional
and project managers, future managers, internal consultants,
and facilitators will gain valuable skills.
BENEFITS
Organizational: By embedding and supporting the rational
process skills into the culture of an organization, Program Leaders
capitalize on their organization's investment and achieve measurable
results.
Personal: The LDI can be a life and career changing experience
that unleashes new talents, thinking processes, and opportunities.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Following the LDI, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate Rational Process knowledge
- Describe each process
in the content area, explain why it is important, and give specific
guidelines for its use
- Demonstrate application capability
- Take a results-oriented focus
- Act as a process consultant
- Apply each rational process to real company concerns
- Facilitate others in the use of the skills with real on-the-job
issues
- Coach and critique others using process
- Demonstrate teaching capability
Program Leaders leave the LDI with an ability to motivate participants
at the start of teaching segments, test their understanding at
critical junctions of the teach, provide examples to help clarify
points, and support case work and job application by responding
to questions with key learning points. Program Leaders learn to
critique in a positive manner, and respond to different learning
styles and paces.
Program Leaders develop an organized presentation style using
concise language, clear examples, and non-distracting mannerisms.
They demonstrate program materials and administrative knowledge
POST LDI ACTIVITY AND ASSISTANCE
Program Leader candidates spend extensive time preparing for their first in-house
teach. A KT professional is present during this first teach for guidance, assistance,
and to ensure that the program is properly presented. A successful first teach
allows the candidate to become certified as a Program Leader. A Kepner-Tregoe
account manager provides each Program Leader with ongoing support and assistance. |
